Will Ricky Gervais Visit American Office?

  Is a merger in store for The Office? Ricky Gervais, the brilliant mind behind the British original, tells TVGuide.com he'd like to appear in NBC's Americanized version.
  
  Gervais even has an idea for how he could appear: as himself, playing struggling actor Andy Melman on HBO's Extras.
  
  "I'd quite like them to maybe be watching an episode of Extras, and Michael Scott comes along and goes, 'This guy is no good. If they ever do a remake, I think I should do that part."
  
  Of course, Gervais and American Office star Steve Carrell worked together before in an Emmys routine about Carrell picking up Gervais' Emmy for Extras. They also appeared in a Saturday Night Live routine about a Japanese version of The Office, though not together.
  
  Gervais spoke to TVGuide.com at the World Premiere of HBO's Ricky Gervais: Out of England — The Stand-up Special at the Paley Center for Media on Thursday. (Watch the video below!) He said he wanted to do a stand-up special for the challenge, and because he felt a little guilty that other comedians have had to do stand-up for 20 years before landing sitcoms.
  
  Gervais wrote, directed and stars in his next project, Nothing But the Truth, which costars 30 Rock's Tina Fey. He calls Fey "the most famous woman in America."
  
  Would you like to see Gervais pop up on The Office? Who do you think he should play?

본인이 출연했던 Extras의 엑스트라 배우 역할.. 이 역할도 꽤나 진상인데.. ㅋㅋ 아무튼 출연하게 된다면 스티브 카렐과 기싸움 한 판 하실듯. 출연 성사됐음 좋겠다!!
HBO에서는 리키 저베이스 스탠딩 코미디 시리즈 방송한다는데.. 장르 안가리고 웬만한 해외 컨텐츠는 너끈하게 소화 가능한 나이지만 스탠딩 코미디 문화는 아직도 이해하기 힘들다 ㅠ_ㅠ 웃음 포인트를 잘 모르겠어.. 무자막으로 달리기도 힘들고.. ㅠ_ㅠ   

푸톤크리틱의 꽤나 긴 인터뷰.. 왠만한건 생략하고 앤젤라와 앤디가 직접 해서 인용된 말들만 옮겨왔다.

우선 딱봐도 미스매치인 앤젤라와 앤디가 어떻게 관계를 계속 유지할 수 있는지... 
There's a part of Angela Martin that kind of wants to do what society would think would be appropriate and I think Andy seems very appropriate.
She could bring Andy to church. I don't know if she could bring Dwight to church. He might show with some squirrel pelts to give people and that's a little off-putting.I think Andy sort of on paper is what she thought she wanted and... she has this kind of crazy chemistry with Dwight that whe doesn't understand.
It doesn't fit into her plan for her life and that's sort of those things she goes back and forth with the person she thinks is more appropriate and the person who she really has sort of a deep passion for.

I think we've all had relationships where different people bring different sides of you out more prominently and sometimes you're like What am I doing? But I think Angela and Andy have a lot of that. The sort of bring each other's crazy out.
저 와닿는 교회 비유..ㅋㅋㅋ 주변시선 신경쓰는 앤젤라 성격에 드와잇보다는 아이비리그 코넬대학 나온 앤디가 훨 나을지도. 앤젤라도 은근히 자랑스러워하고, 이전 에피에서 필리스가 드와잇에게 앤젤라는 'risk taker'가 아니라는 말을 한 것도 생각난다..

I think what Andy and Angela have is largely horrifying but there is a real [connection] in some ways. Who they are dovetails perfectly.
Who each person is fits together because I think there's a little bit of a difference in Angela being so demanding and Andy being so accommodating.
앤디 말대로 정말 천생연분이란 서로 다른 점을 많이 갖고있어야 하는지도 모르겠다. 앤젤라의 그 많은 짜증과 요구를 온몸으로 받아내는 앤디 ㅠ_ㅠ

앤디,앤젤라의 캐릭터는 TV에 보기엔 재밌지만 실제로 그런 사람들이랑 함께 일한다면 완전 짜증날텐데.. 이런 캐릭터를 어떻게 받아들이고 소화했는지?
I found so much to love about Andy. I think there's a lot of me in him. The things that I'm kind of ashamed of I just blow out of proportion for Andy.
I love it and I love the dynamic and I love his passion for Angela. As Andy has grown in the world and "The Office" it just gets more complicated which is so much more fun as a performer.

앤젤라는 배우가 되기 전 회사에서 일했던 경력에서 도움을 얻었나보다.
There was always some sort of stickler[잔소리꾼] and the busy body[참견쟁이] and the person who just had a little bit of authority in their lives and went berserk with it.
I try to make [Angela] real and she's definitely prickly but I try to find in my own way...to like her even with her craziness. My guess is she'd probably drive you crazy but she'd completely organize your desk if you let her. I try to find the hills and valleys in her.

앤디+앤젤라의 관계를 정의한다면?
My Dad asked me recently why are you with that woman? It's a very valid question but actually I do think there's this unflappable optimism with Andy.
If there's one thing that's really great about Andy is he's so decisive about how he goes with something.
And once he decides it's what he wants, he's just in it and he throws his whole heart into it and I think that's just what's happened with this relationship with Angela.
맞아. 정말 결단력있게 일단 칼을 뽑으면 무라도 써는 앤디!! 역시 아이비리그 출신!! 앤디 아버님도 한 유머 하시는듯..

the writers have taken what little idea I might have had in my head and not shared and made it ten times more amazing.
I couldn't even believe that they took my character that way or the show that way and I did kind of leave the table read in awe many times.


I feel like the same intonation, the same energy and I'll say this about the way that Angela and Andy...develops over the next few episodes, I would not change a thing.

급격하게 늘어난 앤디+앤젤라 팬들
We're dorks for our own show and we so enjoy it that it's very easy for me to keep my enthusiasm up because it's the most amazing thing I've ever been a part of and we still have a giddiness and just a real sense of fun even five years into it.

소문이 자자한 오피스 캐스트들의 친밀감 그리고 단합심

앤디는 anger management 시설도 갔다 온 전력이 있는데, 만약 결혼식이 취소되면 실망감에 앤디는 어떻게 될 것인지.. 
I'd like to think [the anger] is still very much there. I'm not sure anyone who has a real problem with that ever fully gets passed it. [Andy has] really learned a lot of coping mechanisms and..there may be that he has a little punching bag in his garage that allows him to kind of stay a little more centered and adhere to social norms a little bit.

I think that Andy has a kind of bro-crush on Jim. That's why [Andy] kind of tries to be like him but also doesn't want to be too kiss-ass so he's also kind of a jerk sometimes so Jim knows that Andy is his own man but it's all part of a broader attempt to just impress him.
All Andy wants is for Jim to take him under his wing. But different from that, there's a very shrewd part of Andy that really wants to get in Michael's good graces, obviously, so he has kind of a corporate crush on Michael, if you will.

스포일러 신경쓰느라 극도로 말을 아꼈다는 앤디.. 이번화에 앤디 앤젤라가 드와잇의 사탕무 농장에서 결혼식을 올리기로 결정해서, 앞으로 어떻게 될지 긴장감이 감돈다. 이건 완전 태풍 전야같은.. 이건 뭐 좀비영화보다 긴장감 백배!!
앤디가 짐을 놀려먹긴 하지만 2인자로서 은근 인정해주고 외모 경쟁자로 생각하고 있다는 것은 자명한 사실.. 그리고 드와잇과 경쟁하며 마이클 눈에 들려는 노력도 끊이지 않는데 bro-crush, corporate-crush라고 표현하니.. 많이 웃기다..ㅋㅋ

그리고 앤디+앤젤라 moment 중 가장 좋아하는, 앤디가 코넬 아카펠라 동아리 Here comes Treble 친구들에게 전화해 앤젤라에게 고백하는 장면.. 앤젤라가 정말 미친듯이 행복 충만해야 볼 수 있는 저 희미한 미소..
